| YouTube: Art Picnic Tables: Port of San Diego Public Art Yvonne Wise, Public Art Program Manager for the Port of San Diego, discusses a special exhibit by artists who were selected by the Port's Public Art Committee to transform eight plain, concrete picnic tables and seats into works of art. Some feature mosaic tile designs and others incorporate images related to the San Diego lifestyle. The tables will be display in the park for at least a year and the public is welcome to use them to dine at, or just sit and relax. www.portofsandiego.org Video courtesy of San Diego Living. http |
| This is a really excellent idea and a great way to get the community involved in sprucing up the area and learning about conservation. When a public area has works of art which are contributed by the locals, then the said locals are much more likely to take good care of the area and not trash it, as they feel more and more that it is really "theirs" and not just the city's. |
